Age from the document, not from appearance
verkyc checks the age threshold against the date of birth in the document and the check date. Face-based age estimation is not used as evidence: an incomplete date of birth sends the case to an additional procedure.
What is checked
- Age: the threshold is set by the policy or by the country and service profile.
- Identity: document, face matching against the document photo, liveness.
- Sanctions lists and monitoring for services that need them.
- Minors: the check is designed for adult applicants; separate rules for minors are not applied.

Why not estimate age from the face?
An estimate from appearance gives a probability, not a fact. The date of birth from the document is checked together with the document and named in the report as the source.
